New Singapore Partner strengthens investment funds offering

Simmons & Simmons has strengthened its Asset Management and Investment Funds capability in Singapore with the hire of Han Ming Ho.

International law firm Simmons & Simmons has strengthened its Asset Management and Investment Funds (AMIF) capability in Singapore with the hire of Han Ming Ho, a leading Singapore-qualified funds lawyer with extensive international experience advising investment managers, sponsors, and institutional investors on the structuring, formation and operation of investment funds across Asia-Pacific.

Han Ming’s practice spans a wide range of strategies and structures, including hedge funds, private equity, real estate, private credit and special situations funds, and he regularly advises on both manager-side and investor-side matters. He also has particular experience at the intersection of funds, regulation and technology, including advising fund clients in the digital assets ecosystem and on the tokenisation and structuring of tokenised funds for offerings in the Asia-Pacific region.

A key focus of his practice is guiding clients on the establishment and expansion of Asia Pacific based operations (in particular Singapore), covering fund structuring, licensing and other financial regulatory matters. He also advises on the Singapore domiciliation and structuring of fund platforms, including the re-domiciliation of offshore structures into Singapore vehicles, reflecting the increasing adoption of Singapore fund structures by global investors.

Han Ming will join the firm shortly from Reed Smith, where he led the Asia Pacific Investment Management and Funds group. Prior to this, he held partnership roles at Sidley Austin and Clifford Chance in Singapore, where he established and led its Singapore investment funds practices.

On joining Simmons & Simmons, Han Ming commented: “I’m looking forward to deepening and enhancing as regional leader, an Asia-led, globally integrated funds platform at Simmons & Simmons. Leveraging Singapore’s role as a growing regional hub, I will draw on my experience to support managers and investors across private funds, hedge, private credit and digital assets with sophisticated cross-border fund formation and regulatory advice."

Commenting on the hire, David Williams, Partner and Head of the Investment Funds and Private Assets team at Simmons & Simmons, said: “Han Ming is a highly regarded funds practitioner with deep expertise across fund formation and financial regulatory work, and has a strong track record advising managers and investors on complex, cross-border mandates. His arrival will strengthen our Asset Management and Investment Funds capability in Singapore and will support our continued focus on Singapore and the wider region as strategic priorities for the firm."
